WAREHOUSE MANPOWER COST ANALYSIS

Manpower cost in a manual warehouse is huge. Manpower is a complex thing to handle.

Not only cost, but safety & security, ability to do the work, skill, motive, attendance , regularity ...... many more.

To make a proper shift wise break up of manpower is important. For Ex :- Night shift output is less fatigue plays a role. Early morning fatigue and late night hurry is a common.

In shift proper handover is also a criticality.

So plan manpower mainly on general shift as output is more. Ideally warehouse need to start from 8 am to 9 pm. Overlapping of the shift is necessary as handover timing get reduced. If not necessary avoid night shift.

In a warehouse if I consider a FMCG warehouse the ability of the manpower to load or unload didn't depend on the tonnage handling, as for a particular SKU selling more in a month of less weight will showcase a wrong fig on avg " Tonnage handle by per manpower ".

Ideally the concept need to be on per car ( Cartoon) handing.

Total cartoon getting handle by 1 set of manpower , the reqd data need to analysis.

Another important aspect as every human being is different, so rate of work for any particular person will be different. Manage your team with mix and match. As 1 person in a set is too fast but that is bad the speed need to match with the team. Proper training reqd.

Manage men tactfully and technologically is important. As the space mapping need to done to get optimize utilization. For Ex :- A category materials should be located on ground floor of multistoried warehouse and must be near to loading bay.

Things to remember

1. Workers are the key player
2. They are human beings not machine.
3. Proper rest and working environment reqd.
4. Safety & security need to ensure.
5. Treat the workforce properly and proper behavior reqd.

1 worker means 2 hand , Its double benefit , Resource need to nourish properly . A healthy workforce will get benefitted in long run .

DIRECT TO CUSTOMER

In the ERA of Covid 19 pandemic, business down, people at home so all we need to think about some different structure altogether. I am working in Cake and Bakery unit, people will consume, but how the product will get cater to customer point directly. The solution we have arrived is to tie up with various courier service, For Ex :- Letter gets delivered then why not materials. If we get registered our product into any modern trade format 25% - 30% margin need to be assured from MRP + freight + Distribution cost. Altogether calculate and spend the money for courier service. Its the fact very low val sku might not get delivered but make a bundle pack, special packaging with a bubble pack and the materials ready to travel. People will go to the website and place the order, prepaid and just need to inform a courier . Materials will get picked from warehouse end get delivered. Benefit we can reach customer to every point of the nation, and digital marketing reqd to promote the same onl...

Supply Chain Gap

Supply Chain Gap , the materials are not available. Its not easier to found, I am stating the materials not available at retailers point, so in a country like India with so many diversity , its not easy to found the gap. A new way to found the same, develop a APP in Google store or Apple Store. Ask all the employee to download the same, a facility included in app, shoot a video for 30 sec, with GPS location and upload if the competitor are present in the same place or a prospective one for future. Its a way to share idea among the organization. The notification will go to the concern person , the concern need to go to the place and close the issue. After closing, the person raise the issue will get a complementary reward . The small incentive will boost the moral , and the way to close the gap is done, in future if the same persist then some action need to taken, a classic example of Bullwhip effect.  Think in some holistic way.   Export   On the topic, I have a business idea. Export for a general Indian company, people get feared 1.  Not known about the buyer 2. Not known about the export paperwork 3. Not known on a single SKU a volume order will not come  4. Buyer do not want to buy a large same product. 5. Registration on advertisement website to promote with some licenses. Solutions can be 1. A logistic company do have his own vehicle  2. A warehouse 3. A custom clearance agent Connect to Buyer and offer them a basket, Collect materials from various company, make a basket and aggregator can solve the same.
