LSCM IN ( COVID 19 Pandemic )

The present status like emergency situation like COVID 19, I my self work in FMCG , and we are running the show still its a lock down.

The lock down is a situation where the options are less like less transportation, 3PL etc, so how the show can run ?

Its simple a strategy, but need to implemented before the lock down started pre planning .

1. Trained some manpower beforehand who are mainly localities

2. Some residential manpower need to keep.

3. Setup of operation via web so that can be controlled from anywhere, physical present is not necessary.

4. Distribute the distribution from a single warehouse to multiple location, as lock down might not be same for all place at the same time.

5. Keep some sets of transporter and vehicle need to be dedicated and vehicle at warehouse & factory end.

6. Choose some 3PL provider who run business on there own vehicle not dependent on market.

7. Choose different methods at same time like Direct Shipping, Shipping through Milk Run, Shipping through distribution center.

The strategy and plan need to make before hand, need to check routes as the vehicle movement is possible or not.

Shifting from FTL to PTL or LTL.

Clubbing routes, multiple point delivery on a single vehicle.

Shifting from 32 ft to 20 ft / 24 ft container consignment as order value has reduced.

Plan production and reducing the holding stock days as if the strict lock down implemented , materials with self life issue didn't get expires at warehouse end.

Proper Safety and security need to maintain as per WHO norms for the employees who is servicing in the pandemic situation and also incentives for them as they are real hero's.

In the scenario freight optimization in some place is not possible but to cater the market and live up to the expectation is more necessary.

On a holistic approach need to understand the market scenario , need to change as per the situation, when the nation needs you.

DIRECT TO CUSTOMER

In the ERA of Covid 19 pandemic, business down, people at home so all we need to think about some different structure altogether. I am working in Cake and Bakery unit, people will consume, but how the product will get cater to customer point directly. The solution we have arrived is to tie up with various courier service, For Ex :- Letter gets delivered then why not materials. If we get registered our product into any modern trade format 25% - 30% margin need to be assured from MRP + freight + Distribution cost. Altogether calculate and spend the money for courier service. Its the fact very low val sku might not get delivered but make a bundle pack, special packaging with a bubble pack and the materials ready to travel. People will go to the website and place the order, prepaid and just need to inform a courier . Materials will get picked from warehouse end get delivered. Benefit we can reach customer to every point of the nation, and digital marketing reqd to promote the same onl...

How to Find a Transporter

How to find a Transporter ? To find a proper transporter is difficult  To evaluate the same To get competitive rate . So what's the solution. The solution is bidding or auction . Auction is a process where a IT provider will provide a platform, ask the IT provider to get transporters. A experience provider already had a pool for the same work done previously, just ask for the service. Ask the provider to arrange a auction and bring vendor. With 1 hr auction a comparative rate with vendor details will be received. Think differently. Wave Theory Supply Chain

Weave theory is a theory of business development on the aspect of Supply Chain. Wave theory suggest that to establish a operation you need to engulf a model from the nearest support. For Ex :- If I have a full flagged operation to a particular city with the support and model I need to move to sidewise city. The market initially will not accept big things, so need to cater in small then moving slowly. Case Study :- My manufacturing unit in Kolkata West Bengal along with a warehouse, after a established supply chain I will slowly move to Orissa, Bihar & Jharkhand. Initially I will open a small warehouse with small vehicle after getting successfully I will move to Andhra Pradesh, subsequently . In the wave theory suggest of Ocean Wave , initially on the beach the water is coming slowly but after that High tide coming and big waves are coming. The same is applicable to concentrate a business where the reverse logistic will took place. Suddenly jump into a place & became succes...
